Aizawl, the 26th April 2021: To strengthen the state government’s initiatives for containment of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai had held a meeting with the leaders of the Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod, the largest Christian denomination in Mizoram at the Raj Bhavan, today.

Governor Pillai had shared his appreciation for the close cooperation his state government received from the church community while implementing the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state. He had reiterated the need for Covid-19 appropriate behaviour in the face of the second wave of the pandemic. For educating the masses on this Covid-19 appropriate behaviour, the Church leadership, the Governor believed will continue to play the crucial role in a place like Mizoram, where the population is predominantly Christians. On relating the Prime Minister’s request to the state Governors to involve religious leaders and the NGOs for the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Governor Pillai once again urged the Synod leaders to continue to participate actively within their own capacities.

In this meeting with the Governor, Rev Dr C.Lalhlira, Moderator,  Rev. Z.D. Lalhmachhuana, Secretary(Jr), Rev. B. Sangthanga, Executive Secretary and Upa Lalrinmuana, Secretary represented the Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod.  Synod Moderator and his colleagues also shared how the Synod from the headquarters to the local church was involved financially and contributed to the whole state’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. And that Synod will continue to support and cooperate with the state Government for containment of Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
