Aizawl, the 2nd October 2024: The Governor of Mizoram Pu Indra Sena Reddy Nallu today graced the celebration of Swachhata Diwas at Assembly Annexe Conference Hall, Treasury Square, Aizawl which was jointly organised by the UD&PA Department and the PHE Department. The Governor inaugurated the cultural fest, handed over the prizes under Swachhata Diwas Competitions, and also felicitated the Sanitation workers.
The Governor of Mizoram, Pu Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, mentioned during the Swachhata Diwas celebration that the initiative taken by the Prime Minister in the past has had a significant impact on cleanliness and has made it one of the biggest global movements of cleanliness campaigns. He reiterated that cleanliness should be practiced in all aspects, including inward cleanliness, personal hygiene, and at the community level. He congratulated all the winners of the Swachhata Hi Seva Competitions and also conveyed appreciation for the Safai Mitras. He also applauded the active participation of the general public in the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign and encouraged them to keep up the noble work. He called for adopting swachhata as a part of one's daily lifestyle and culture. He also stressed the importance of cleanliness and sanitation for achieving Vikshit Bharat by 2024 as declared by the Prime Minister.
Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma, Chairman of the State Steering Committee for Swachhata Hi Seva 2024, emphasized the crucial role of line departments, particularly the UD&PA and PHE departments, in implementing cleanliness initiatives. She noted that district-level authorities, such as the DCs, play an important role in the District Steering Committees. She also applauded the community's involvement in cleanliness efforts across both urban and rural areas. She also said that this year's Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign witnessed around 500 activities wherein more than 10000 persons actively participated.
The function was chaired by PHED Secretary Er. Pu F. Liantluanga, Pi Zarzokimi, Jt. Secretary, UD&PA Department administered the oath-taking ceremony. Videos on Swachh Bharat Mission implementation in Mizoram in the past 10 years and Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 implementation were viewed. The Governor distributed prizes to the Safai Mitra competition under Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 and inspected waste to art sculpture and street food stalls set up for Swachhata Diwas.
The results for the Swachhata Hi Seva Competitions are given below:-
1. Waste to Art Sculpture Competition (High School & Higher Secondary School, 34 entries from 10 Schools) :
1st Prize: Romuanpuii Ralte Class-IX A, Mt. Carmel School (Rs 35,000+ Certificate)
2nd Prize: Grace Lalrinmawii, Class-X 'A' St. Pauls HSS (Rs 20,000+ Certificate)
3rd Prize: Aizawl Christian Academy (Rs 15,000+ Certificate)
2. College Level Swachhata Competition:
1st Prize: Pachhunga University College (Rs 35,000+ Certificate)
2nd Prize: Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College (Rs 20,000+ Certificate)
3rd Prize: Govt. Aizawl College (Rs15,000+ Certificate)
3. Swachhata Hi Seva best performing villages under SBM-G:
1st Prize: Sesawng (Rs 5,000 leh Citation)
2nd Prize: Thingsul Tlangnuam (Rs 3,000 + Citation)
3rd Prize: Kepran (Rs 2,000 + Citation)
Five Street Sweepers (Safai Mitras); Laithangi of Zuangtui; Chawnghmingthanga of Bethlehem; Lalbiaknungi of Tuikual; Zothangpuii of Zonuam and B. Lalrinkunga of Bungkawn were also felicitated on this occasion.
