Aizawl, the 6th March 2023: NHIDCL officials led by Shri Virender Jokhar, Executive Director met Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhavan today. The NHIDCL officials apprised the Governor of the progress in their ongoing projects and also discussed with him some issues that needed to be resolved.

Apart from the 4-lane road construction project which is put on hold due to dispute, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati was pleased to learn that 60% of physical works in the ongoing road infrastructural projects taken up by NHIDCL is now achieved. He urged the NHIDCL to try their best efforts to find solutions to each problem that might crop up to complete their projects by March 2024 as stipulated. He also reiterated the importance of the 2-lane, and 4-lane road construction and railways project and the impact it will have in state economy.

Out of the total length of the National Highway in the state, the NHIDCL is entrusted to construct 888 kilometres of road in the state. Out of the total length entrusted to them, 248 km is completed, ongoing works cover 560 km and 80 km is yet to be taken up.

As per the overview of the project reported, NHIDCL is the executing agency for JICA funded NE Road Network Connectivity improvement project Phase -1: Aizawl to Tuipang, Phase -2: 4 numbers of Bypasses on Aizawl to Tuipang and MoRT&H funded Bharatmala Pariyojana: Seling -Champhai, Lunglei -Tlabung, Tuivai -Keifang and Vairengte - Sairang - a total length of 732.10 Km with the project cost of Rs 14944.94 crores. NHIDCL will also be taking up construction of a 4-lane road : Aizawl - Vairengte and 2-lane road : Keifang -Tuivai road package -II, a total length of 103.11 km with a project cost of Rs 1389 Crores.
