Kolasib dated 3rd August 2021: Dr.R.Lalthangliana, Health & Family Welfare Department Minister inspected the Health Facilities located at Vairengte and Kanhmun. He also visited the District Hospital, Kolasib which is to be upgraded to a 100 bedded Hospital under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme.

Meeting with the Kolasib District Officials and NGOs, the Health Minister mentioned that the District DCHC will be revamped in order to accommodate more patients and an Oxygen Plant will be installed soon, having a capacity of 80 and 250 LPM under NESIDS and PM Cares respectively. The Minister also pointed out that the recent border issue leading to the Highway 306 blockade by Assam has caused severe constrains in essential medical supplies and in this regard he mentioned that the Union Home Minister and the Assam Health & Family Welfare Department Minister have been notified. Considering the prevailing pandemic and the border issue, the Minister announced that Covid-19 test would be conducted free of cost for the personnel on border duty.
