444/2026-2027
Hnahthial, October 13, 2026: Briefing for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) on the implementation of the Special Drive under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was held at DC Meeting Hall-II, Hnahthial, on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by Pu Lalremruata Kullai, Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Hnahthial.
Addressing the meeting, Pu Lalremruata Kullai said the Election Commission of India (ECI) had directed the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) across all states to conduct a Special Drive during October. Accordingly, the drive is being carried out intensively in Hnahthial district.
He said the main objective of the drive was to identify eligible voters whose names appeared in the electoral rolls before the SIR but were missing from the Final Electoral Roll, and to facilitate their re-enrolment through Form 6. BLOs have been entrusted with distributing the forms and assisting eligible Indian citizens in completing the enrolment process.
The drive will also focus on enrolling new voters, particularly those who have attained the age of 18 and are eligible to register as voters.
Pu Lalremruata Kullai further instructed BLOs to share the prepared lists with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and submit the lists to the ERO/AERO after conducting field verification. Applicants submitting Form 6 will be required to attend hearings before the ERO/AERO. Booth Level Camps will also be organised wherever necessary and feasible to facilitate voter enrolment.
The Special Drive is currently underway and is scheduled to continue throughout October.
Pu S. Kaptluanga, Election Officer and SDO (Sadar), explained the purpose of the meeting. The programme also featured a question-and-answer session, during which participants discussed measures to ensure the effective and accurate implementation of the Special Drive.
