“Whereas Section 3(2) of the Arms Act 1959 has been amended vide “The Arms (Amendment) Act, 2019” on 13th December, 2019 wherein the maximum number of firearms permissible for a person has been amended to 2(two) firearms. It has come to the notice of the Government that there are some persons holding more than two (2) firearms against their arms licence(s). Now therefore, the Government of Mizoram has decided to make necessary arrangements for the transfer of such surplus firearms to eligible family members of the licence holders in order to remove inconvenience to such arms holders.

Persons holding more than two (2) firearms shall surrender their surplus firearm to the concerned Licensing Authority or at the nearest Police Station within six (6) months from the issue of this notification. An application for fresh arms licence in the name of the family member for the surplus shall be submitted within six (6) months from the date of this notification.

After the expiry of the period, such arms shall be liable to be confiscatd as per the Arms(Amendment) Act, 2019.”
