Kolasib 31st May 2022: As a part of the celebration of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75 years of Indian Independence, a nation-wide event of interaction with the beneficiaries of about sixteen schemes/Progammes spanning nine Ministries/Departments of the Government of India was organized on 31.05.2022. The schemes/ programmes covered under the event are:

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
POSHAN Abhiyan
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
Swachh Bharat Mission (both Grameen & Urban)
Jal Jeevan Mission & AMRUT
Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme
One Nation One Ration Card
Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana
Ayushman Bharat PM Jan ArogyaYojana
Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre
Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana

The event was aptly named as “Garib Kalyan Sammelan” as all these schemes address the poorest segment of population. The principal objective of the interaction was to understand how these schemes have brought about ease of living for the citizens, to explore possibility of convergence and saturation and to assess the citizens’ aspiration for India as it completes 100 years of independence in the year 2047. The Sammelan is one of the largest ever single-event nationwide interaction.

The national level Sammelan was organized at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh which was presided over by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Hon’ble Prime Minster interacted with beneficiaries about the impact that the wide-ranging schemes/programmes covering housing, availability of potable water, food, health and nutrition, livelihood and financial inclusion etc., have had on their lives.

Similar Sammelan was also organized at Kolasib District which was presided over by Shri John LT Sanga, Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib, Officers of various Departments and representatives of Banks, representatives of Joint Village Council,NGOs viz., Young Mizo Association (YMA) and Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP), Mizoram Journalist Association (MJA) attended the programme. The Sammelan was attended by ninety (90) participants including forty six (46) beneficiaries. Representatives from Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Dept., Health & Family Welfare Dept., District Rural Development Agency, Public Health Engineering Dept., Women & Child Development, State Bank of India and Mizoram Rural Bank shared to the masses the welfare schemes implemented by them. Success stories were shared by the beneficiaries themselves.

At 11.00 A.M., the event was linked with the National event and the participants watched Hon’ble Prime Minister live from Shimla interacting with the beneficiaries with the country.
