The ICFAI University Mizoram organized its second Convocation ceremony today at its campus located at Aizawl, Mizoram. His Excellency Governor of Mizoram Shri Vakkom Purushothaman was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

In his address The Governor congratulated the passing out students said. “I am really proud to be among the young graduating students of the institute, which in a short span of time has established its worth and reputation. I congratulate you all on your achievement and compliment your parents and professors who prepared you to reach this day.”’

“Career is a choice and a challenge. But it is not an end in itself. It is a means of delivering something to the society. Life is all about learning, earning and returning. Irrespective of whichever career you choose business or bureaucracy, teaching or technical profession, manufacturing or marketing, politics to private activity, responsibilities towards family, community, society and nation would always accompany you. You can be leaders only if you develop capabilities of turning perils into promise, odds into opportunities and risks into meaningful results. Management is an art of self-discipline which leads to professional dividends. Management means ethical methods, attitudinal maturity and behavioural modesty. We all have great hopes from you.” The Governor added.

While narrating the Mizoram state The Governor added “Mizoram is primarily an agrarian economy. Nature has endowed it with great potential. Peace and tranquility in the state has prepared a fertile ground for effective enterprise to develop and contribute to its economy. Mizoram needs your managerial talents. Many of you might go out of Mizoram with hopes of better opportunities. But many of you may choose to serve the State educated, enlightened and enterprising youth form the backbone of the State and Nation. I am sure you would prove equal to expectations, wherever and whichever place you choose to settle and serve.”

Prof. J P Ramappa. Vice Chancellor of The ICFAI University Mizoram presided over the event and presented a status report on the progress and growth of the University. In his report he thanked the Governor for gracing the Convocation.

The Vice Chancellor further said “ We are thankful to the Government of Mizoram for enacting the State Legislation setting up theICFAIUniversityand for their support at various stages. We are also thankful for Durtlang North local council for naming the road leading to the campus asICFAI Road. Our University is UGC recognized and empowered to offer degrees under section 22 of the UGC Act (1956).The sponsor ICFAI Society has already funded the University to the extent of over Rs.32 crores and continues to support its operations and growth. On the joyous and ceremonious occasion of the second graduating ceremony, 82 students were conferred with degrees and gold / silver medals of the Batch 2013. I am happy to report that we have been successful in 100% placement of students seeking jobs in good organizations at attractive salaries.”

As on date on a 17 acres campus, The ICFAI University Mizoram has 43,000 sft of built up area that consists of Classrooms, Computer Lab, Language lab, Library with 12500 books, various common facilities like Auditorium, Recreation area etc and as the University grows more space will be built.
