Lunglei, 28 November 2025: The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), State Office Aizawl, today conducted a District Level Awareness Programme on the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) at Government J. Buana College, Lunglei. The programme aimed to encourage youth entrepreneurship and disseminate information on the Government of India’s employment-generation schemes.

The session was led by KVIC Executives Pu Safiyan Hayath and Pu Nilimesh Sarkar, who delivered a detailed presentation on the PMEGP scheme. They briefed students and faculty on the scheme’s objectives, eligibility criteria, subsidy components, online application process, and the diverse range of industries that can be set up under PMEGP.

The officials highlighted the importance of self-employment and shared various regional success stories. An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which students sought guidance on starting ventures, preparing project reports, and accessing bank finance.

Government J. Buana College Principal, Pi Lalthangmawii Chhangte, also addressed the gathering. The college authorities appreciated KVIC’s initiative, noting that such programmes play a vital role in creating awareness about government schemes and empowering youth in remote districts like Lunglei.

KVIC Aizawl actively organises PMEGP awareness and entrepreneurship development programmes across Mizoram to promote self-reliance and generate sustainable employment at the grassroots level.
