Lawngtlai, the 15th August, 2021: The 75th Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Central YLA Playground, Lawngtlai this morning with Pu H. Biakzaua, MLA, Vice Chairman, Agriculture Development Board as a Chief Guest.

As part of the celebration, national flag was hoisted at every government institutions and quarters at sunrise. In the ceremonial function at CYLA playground, the Chief Guest unfurled the national flag and acknowledged the guard of honour presented by Mizoram Police Armed Contingent.

Delivering a speech, the Chief Guest applauded the good cooperation between government departments, district councils, churches, media, NGOs and general public in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, and for development and progress of the District, in general. He also highlighted various achievements of the District in the past year.

After delivering his speech, the Chief Guest distributed prizes as below:

1. HSSLC 2021 Toppers:
1) Jeffrey H. Lalhriatrenga, Lungtian,
(3rd rank holder in Commerce Stream)

2) Lalthanzami, Mualbu 'L',
(4th rank holder in Arts Stream)

2. Exemplary performance in Lawngtlai District under AB PM-JAY:
1) Public Hospital - District Hospital Lawngtlai

2) Private Hospital - Lairam Christian Medical Centre & Hospital, Lawngtlai

3. Independence Day 2021 parade commander - SI (AB) K. Lallianuka, 2nd Bn MAP, Lawngtlai

The ceremonial function was attended by MLA of Lawngtlai West Assembly Constituency Pu C. Ngunlianchunga, Deputy Commissioner Lawngtlai Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika, CEM LADC Pu Manghmung Chinzah, Chairman LADC Pu V. Zirsanga, SP Lawngtlai Pu DKS Singh IPS, elected members of LADC, state and district council officials, ex-servicemen, leaders of NGOs and recipients of prizes.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, there were no ceremonial parade nor VIP At Home. As part of the celebration, the District Independence Day Celebration Committee presented a gift of Rs 2,000/- each to District Hospital Lawngtlai, Christian Hospital Lawngtlai, Lairam Christian Medical Centre & Hospital, Lairam Motherless Home, District Jail and Covid Care Centre, Thingkah.
