Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Pu Kulothungan A made his maiden visit to the District Jail at Sazaikawn on Monday (2nd May, 2022).

The Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by District Jail Superintendent Pu C. Lalbiaktluanga and other officials conducted a thorough survey of the jail premises with a focus on infrastructure and amenities required.

At a short interactive session with the inmates at the District Jail, Pu Kulothungan A stated that the District administration is keen to arrange skill development programs for the inmates, in collaboration with the concerned Government Departments. He also announced that a health camp will be organized soon in the jail premises. He encouraged the District jail officials to focus on reformation and rehabilitation of inmates, with emphasis on mental health so as to facilitate a smooth reintegration to society for the inmates.

The Lunglei District Jail is located at Sazaikawn, 3kms from District Court Complex and was commissioned on 19.9.1977. It has a capacity of lodging 103 Males and 10 Females, Total = 113. At present there are 115 males and 15 females.
