The third meeting of the Lunglei District Level Skill Committee was held under the Chairmanship of Lunglei DC Pu Kulothungan A at Lunglei DC Conference Hall today.

Pu Ajinkya Madaikar (MGNF Fellow), and representatives of Line Departments were present at today’s meeting.

Two Sub-Committees under District Level Skill Committee viz District Skill Development Plan Sub-committee & Placement and Entrepreneurship Sub Committees were formed at today’s meeting.

The Committee also discussed and deliberated on Lunglei District’s Project Proposal under SANKALP to be submitted to the Ministry of Skill Development. The special project will be funded under the national component of SANKALP, Ministry of Skill Development with a maximum budget of Rs. 2 crores. Various Departments gave their views on the skill gaps and training required within their respective areas of operation.

Various other initiatives to be undertaken by DSC – conducting life skills, leadership skills, financial awareness, improving FPO functioning, placement support to trainees, Basic English & Hindi fluency courses, collaboration with NGOs etc were also discussed at length in the meeting, and will be implemented in a phased manner.
