Brig. Birender Singh, Chief Engineer of Project Pushpak today briefed the Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan on the road infrastructure available in the State at Raj Bhavan. He apprised the Hon’ble Governor on the progress of the roads undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and sought his help towards upgradation of the Kawnpui-Durtlang-Aizawl Road which is an inescapable requirement due to increasing density of traffic in Aizawl and also the Sairang-Tuipuibari Road to National Highway Double Lane (NHDL) specifications. He also apprised the Hon’ble Governor on the shortage of funds for maintenance of roads.
Meanwhile,
the Hon’ble Governor appreciated the works of the Project Pushpak and agreed to
approach the central government for making available the additional funds to
improve connectivity and conditioning of the existing roads in the State. He
also agreed to examine and to present before the concerned new proposals for
roads and construction of airfields in the State with the involvement of BRO,
who can play a greater role in the socio-economic development of the state and
also meet the strategic requirements of the nation.
