164/2025-2026

Dated Aizawl, the 25th July, 2025: In response to the ongoing fuel shortage in Mizoram, and as directed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena convened a coordinated response. Following this, a high-level meeting was held today, chaired by H. Lalengmawia, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, and attended by Teresy Vanlalhruaii, Secretary, FCS & CA Department, along with key representatives from the Mizoram Oil Tankers Drivers’ Association (MOTDA), to deliberate on immediate measures for restoring fuel supply.

The disruption in fuel supply began on 19th July, 2025, after tanker truck drivers suspended operations due to road damage between Kawnpui and Sairang on National Highway 306. This led to a severe shortage of fuel in the state, affecting the general public.

During the meeting, NHIDCL, with assistance from the Public Works Department, Government of Mizoram, presented a report on the ongoing road repair works. Although road conditions remained a concern post-July 19, significant progress was reported. As a result of the constructive deliberation, it was resolved that fuel tankers would resume operations from the evening of 25th July, 2025, to alleviate public hardship.

Recognising the critical need for essential commodities—particularly rice, LPG, and motor fuel—the Government of Mizoram remains committed to ensuring their uninterrupted supply and will continue taking proactive steps to prevent future disruptions.
