Kolasib dated 14th April 2021: Kolasib District Level Coordination Committee on African Swine Fever and other Trans-boundary Animal Diseases held a meeting today to discuss the prevention and containment measures of ASF in the district.

According to the report presented by Dr.Engkunga Chhangte, District Veterinary Officer, over 690 pigs have died from ASF all over Mizoram (as on 13.4.2021), worth more than Rs.60 lakhs. He also mentioned that no ASF suspected case has yet been reported till date within Kolasib district.

The meeting discussed on measures to check the import of pigs and pork products across the state borders as well as inter-district borders. Protocols to be followed in case of positive suspected ASF and disposal of carcasses were also discussed in the meeting.
