Message of Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Honble Governor of Mizoram on the occasion  of the 75th Anniversary of Independence Day

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2022 MESSAGE

My dear people of Mizoram,

CHIBAI

I greet you all on the happy occasion of the 75th Anniversary of our Independence Day. On this auspicious day, we recall with gratitude the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters in the Indian National Movement. We pay our respects to them for attaining valuable Independence from colonial rule. It is because of them that India has now become the largest democracy in the world.

Today, I am happy to state that I have completed more than one year as the Governor of Mizoram. During this time, I have travelled to the different districts, and interacted with people from all sections of the society. I have seen that we have a very vibrant and close-knit community in our State. I have witnessed various developmental works, as well as our shortcomings. Although Mizoram is blessed in many ways, I believe that we have not yet realized our true potential.

Here, I wish to share with you two important issues. The first topic which I feel we must pursue on priority is power generation. I strongly believe that a small State such as ours, with immense hydro-electric potential, can easily become self-sufficient in power generation. Secondly, I have noticed that the people of Mizoram are generally not aware of the various Central Schemes which are available, including the social security schemes. I make an appeal to all the stakeholders, especially the educated people, to create awareness and assist the common people in availing these beneficial schemes.

As we all know, we are in the midst of celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating 75 years of glorious Independence. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given an enthusiastic call for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. He has also been strongly advocating the ‘vocal for local’ slogan. Mizoram has a massive role to play for the achievement of a ‘Self-Reliant India’. Towards this end, I encourage our innovative youth and hardworking entrepreneurs to utilize schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Standup India, and Startup India.

Another important topic is the National Education Policy 2020. It is our responsibility to ensure the success of the new education policy, in order to make India a global knowledge superpower. I am proud to say that our State continues to perform well in the education sector, with Mizoram University and Pachhunga University College getting high ranks in the NIRF rankings.

In conclusion, as we celebrate Independence Day, let us resolve to uphold the values and ideals that our freedom fighters stood for. We must always remember that ‘Unity in Diversity’ is our greatest strength. Let us work together for the achievement of a New India.

Once again, I wish all the people of Mizoram a Happy Independence Day.

KA LAWM E.

JAI HIND.
