MESSAGE OF HON’BLE GOVERNOR ON THE OCCASION OF CHRISTMAS 2021 AND NEW YEAR 2022
My dear people of Mizoram,
CHIBAI (‘Greetings’ in Mizo language)
I convey my heartiest greetings for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the residents of Mizoram.
Christmas is a season of joy and happiness, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is also a time of peace and goodwill, as it signifies the reconciliation of God with mankind. And so, we must also learn to make peace with our fellow human beings. This has become especially important at a time of rising intolerance and prejudice. Let us remember the message of love and compassion that Jesus preached. We must learn to forgive one another and try to live together peacefully.
In these times of widespread divisiveness, it is important that we remember this message of unity and fraternity. The concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’ is especially important in our State of Mizoram, as we have people belonging to different communities, languages and religion. We must recall that Jesus preached about the universal brotherhood of all people. As law-abiding citizens, it is our duty to maintain and promote peace and communal harmony at all cost.
Mizoram is blessed with an excellent climate, clean atmosphere, and beautiful scenery. I have travelled to the interior parts of the State, and interacted with the various sections of the society. I am very happy to see that we have a vibrant civil society and a strong sense of community. However, I believe that all of us can do much more in order to realize our true potential. Towards this end, I appeal to all the citizens to cooperate with both the Central and the State Governments, in order to achieve our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of a Self-Reliant and New India.
Here, I take this opportunity to convey to the public the various schemes being implemented by the Central Government, such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and many more. I urge all those eligible to grab the opportunity and avail these valuable social security schemes.
As we all know, the COVID-19 Pandemic has caused immense hardship all over the world. This Christmas, let us to be particularly watchful in finding out those who are less fortunate than us. In the true spirit of Christmas, let us try to spread joy by helping others and doing good deeds.
As we come to the end of 2021, let us look forward to the New Year of 2022 with high hopes and utmost positivity. As responsible citizens, it is our sacred duty to work to the best of our abilities for the continued glory of our Nation. In the coming New Year, let us march together towards the realization of a prosperous, flourishing and self-reliant New India.
Once again, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
KA LAWM E (“Thank you” in Mizo language)
Jai Hind.
