Vairengte, the 22nd October, 2024: A Bharat Ko Jano Programme promoting unity and cultural diversity was organized at the Joint YMA Playground of Vairengte, border town of Mizoram at 11:00 AM, today. The program organized by the joint collaboration of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and the Art & Culture Department, Govt. of Mizoram was graced by Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati as the chief guest while Nagaland Governor Shri La. Ganesan who is also the Chairman of NEZCC was the special guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Mizoram Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati thanked the Governor of Nagaland Shri La. Ganesan, Chairman of NEZCC for initiating Border Area Programme and Bharat Ko Jano at Vairengte which is the gateway to Mizoram and also strategically important in the context of relations with the State of Assam. While mentioning the special responsibility of people of Vairengte town in upholding the spirit of brotherhood and unity that we share as Indians, he said that the people residing nearby borders are the torchbearers of the values that Mizoram stands for, such as peace, honesty, and hospitality.
The Governor of Mizoram urged the gathering to strengthen the Bharat Ko Jano campaign by knowing more about our country, learning other cultures, practices and take pride in our rich cultural heritages, resolve to continue to learn and appreciate about other cultures and customs. He also mentioned that in North East alone, there are over 200 ethnic communities, with more than 220 dialects being spoken and emphasized that cultural exchange programme is one of the best way to strengthen our bonds. He expressed his appreciation for NEZCC, Art & Culture Department, Kolasib District Administration and cultural troupes from Mizoram, Assam, Tripura and Bihar for making the programme a grand success. Also taking the opportunity, the Governor mentioned India's current position as the fifth largest economy in the world and the call made by the Prime Minister of India to become a developed nation 'Viksit Bharat' by the year 2047; he urged the people to properly utilise various Central Government Schemes that are available and reiterated that all stakeholders should work hard for creating awareness regarding these schemes.
Guest of Honour Governor of Nagaland Shri. La. Ganesan said that no matter where we come from, we all are integral part of India. He reiterated that collaboration speaks volumes about the unity, resilience and cultural richness of the region and added that North East Region is not only strategically important to India but also added to it's cultural diversity and historical richness. He also said that the event is not just celebration of cultural heritage but also to show commitment to foster unity and development of the region. He expressed his hope that the program will bring environment of mutual understanding and appreciation which is crucial for making peace. Today's performance will inspire us to work harder to built more inclusive and peaceful society, he added. As a Chairman of NEZCC, he lauded the role of Central & State Governments in the promotion of rich cultural heritage of the North East States.
In the Bharat Ko Jano Programme, Dr. Prashanna Gogoi, Director of NEZCC, delivered a welcome speech. Artists from Mizoram, Assam, Tripura, and Bihar showcased various cultural performances.
The event was also attended by DC Kolasib Pu Robert C. Lalhmangaiha and Sr. SP Kolasib Pu David H. Lalthangliana, among others.
In a move to promote greater national awareness and pride in India's vast cultural heritage, the Bharat Ko Jano initiative has been launched. The program aims to educate citizens about the country's diversity and the significance of India.
