Aizawl, the 8th April, 2025: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), today graced the celebration of achievement of Govt. T. Romana College's NCC cadets at GTRC Auditorium in Aizawl. This programme is jointly organised by Govt. T. Romana College (GTRC) and 1 Mizo Battalion NCC. 

In his address, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) commended the accomplishments of Govt. T. Romana College and its NCC cadets. Applauding their warmth reception, he stated that, “This is a sign of excellent education; it is not the work of individuals alone, but the result of collective efforts by the entire college community, including students and staff.” He acknowledged that the NCC cadets now have great opportunities to serve as officers in the armed forces and encouraged them to make the most of this platform. He also appreciated Govt. T. Romana College’s consistent dedication to quality education and the fact that the NCC unit is progressing with commitment and discipline.

The Governor further highlighted the participation of Mizoram NCC cadets in this year’s Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, stating that they were among the most impressive in the parade. He praised NCC as an institution that fosters discipline, leadership, qualities and values, essential traits for becoming better individuals and responsible citizens. He also lauded the progress of Mizoram’s NCC, specifically recognizing the leadership of 1 Mizo Bn. NCC Commanding Officer Col SS Kalia and his team for their dedicated efforts. He congratulated Junior Under Officer (JUO) Jacksy Lalhlimsangi for her achievements and expressed heartfelt appreciation to all cadets.

On March 25, 2025, during the felicitation ceremony for NCC units under the North East Region (NER) held in Guwahati, Govt. T. Romana College (1 Mizo Bn. NCC) was awarded the title of Best NCC College in Mizoram 2025 among all participating institutions from the state for two consecutive year. Additionally, the college’s student, JUO Jacksy Lalhlimsangi, was selected as the Best Cadet in the Girls (Army Wing & Others) category under the Silchar Region for the NCC NER 2024-25.

Upon his arrival at the college, the Governor was given a guard of honour by the cadets. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal of Govt. T. Romana College, gave a welcome address and presented the college NCC report. Col SS Kalia, Commanding Officer of 1 Mizo Bn. NCC, also delivered a speech. During the event, the Governor honored the NCC cadets and Care Taking Officers (CTOs) of Govt. T. Romana College for their service and contributions.

The NCC unit of Govt. T. Romana College (1 Mizo Bn. NCC) was established on 4th August 2003. Since then, around 1,860 cadets have been trained, and currently, the unit has 80 active cadets.
