Aizawl, November 13, 2024: Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati today graced the Northeast Trade and Investment Roadshow organized by the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (DONER) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) at Park Hyatt in Hyderabad.

Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati encouraged investors present, particularly drone pilot training and service providers, to tie up with the Mizoram Government to promote the use of drones in agriculture and other important purposes. He also urged IT companies and skill development providers to create opportunities for tech-savvy youth from Mizoram. Describing Northeast India as a region rich in resources and potential, he invited industrialists to tap into these opportunities by using advanced technologies. Highlighting the large bamboo reserves in Northeast states, he invited the investors to explore and invest in bamboo based ethanol industry. The Governor further emphasized the central government’s commitment to developing Northeast India and the ongoing progress in various sectors, adding that the region is gradually gaining prominence and peace. 

Also stressing on the importance of connectivity and communication for investment, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati stated that the Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTT) is being constructed to enhance connectivity between Northeast states, and once completed, it will serve as a catalyst for further development and efficient use. He noted that improved connectivity and communication would create significant economic opportunities for industrialists. He also added that currently, about 3,000 km of highways have been completed in Northeast India, and in the next three years, an additional 10,000 km of highways are planned, with around 400 projects ongoing at an estimated cost of 1 lakh crore. He also highlighted that in the past eight years, air traffic in the region has increased by 113%, with 8 new airports established, along with 17 waterways and 400 km of new railway lines being constructed. He also mentioned that by next year, Aizawl city will be connected by a railway line.

At today's roadshow, Joint Secretary of DONER, Ms. Monalisa Dash, delivered a speech on the topic 'Advantage Northeast: Opportunities for Investment & Trade' followed by speeches from the Minister of State for DONER, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar and Secretary Mr. Chanchal Kumar. Subsequently, various Northeast states gave presentations on various investment opportunities in their respective states.

The Northeast Investment Roadshow was also attended by Mr. Lalramsanga Sailo, Secretary of Sports & Youth Services; Ms. Pinky Zosangpuii, Joint Secretary of Commerce & Industries; Ms. Chingthanmawii, Adviser cum Joint Secretary of Planning & Programme Implementation and other officials from Mizoram.
