Aizawl, the 30th September, 2021: Pu C.Lalrosanga, Hon`ble MP (Lok Sabha), Pu K.Vanlalvena, Hon`ble MP (Rajya Sabha), Pu Rosangzuala, OSD to Chief Mimister along with Pu Amjad Tak, IAS, Resident Commissioner, Mizoram House, New Delhi met Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India on the evening of 29th September, 2021.

Pu C.Lalrosanga briefed the Union Health Secretary about the on-going Covid crisis in the state and how Mizoram is in dire need of central assistance in the form of medicines, equipments and other Covid related materials due to increasing number of positive cases. Union Health Secretary has informed that out of the total fund under Emergency Covid Response Package (ECRP) of Govt. of India for all States and UTs i.e. Rs.14744.99 crore, the fund sanctioned against the State of Mizoram is only Rs.44.38 crore. First installment of Rs.19.94 crore has been released and remaining amount will be released as soon as expenditure details of the first installment is submitted.

The delegation presented a brief scenario of ongoing Covid related complications faced by the state of Mizoram and the status of vaccination. While vaccination programme is going smooth side by side, the steep rise in number of positive cases demand more ICU beds, various machinery and mobile RTPCR testing vans. State of Mizoram is looking for an active support of Govt. of India beyond the sanctioned fund. The delegation also requested a team of experts to be sent to Mizoram as soon as possible to deeply examine the ongoing Covid crisis faced by the state . To this, the Union Health Secretary assured the issue will be discussed with concerned authority and a team of experts will be sent to Mizoram as soon as possible. He also informed them that they can make arrangement for supply of Monoclonal Antibodies Cocktail(MAC), an expensive but highly effective covid treatment drug costing Rs.120,000/- per set for Mizoram free of cost if the state Government make a request for it.

He lauded the effort of Govt. of Mizoram for the way it is handling covid crisis in the state and remarked that the low mortality rate till now is a positive sign. The Union Health Secretary assured to render full co-operation and support to Mizoram in its battle against covid crisis including additional fund, if need be. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from the Mizoram delegation.
