Mizoram will host Paragliding Accuracy World Cup and Grand Festival at Serchhip on 10th to 16th February, next year.  In the run-up to this event, the Organising Committee led by the Minister of State for Tourism, Sports and Information Communication Technology Pu Robert Romawia Royte, held its first meeting at the office chamber of the Minister at Mizoram New Capital Complex, yesterday.

The internationally renowned Paragliding World Cup Association had already sent technical experts several times to study the location at Serchhip and confirmed it as one of the best sites for paragliding in terms of topography and wind speed. About 130 of the best paragliders and 20 officials from different parts of the world are expected to come together for the Paragliding Accuracy World Cup, 2020. Serchhip had successfully hosted Paragliding pre World Cup event last year where 9 countries participated.

The meeting decided to set up four sub committees such as logistics, programme, promotion and infrastructure committees headed by officials of the Mizoram Government and members of the Mizoram Aero Sports Association (MASA). The Committees will work out budgets and recommendations which will be presented in the next Organising Committee meeting.
