Aizawl, 1st April March, 2021 : The Mizoram State Law Commission held its 38th meeting today in the office chamber of its Chairman Pu Lala Khawbung, who, while welcoming the Law Commission Members, stressed on the importance of the role they played in the advancement of the Mizo people and state.

In today’s meeting, Mizoram State Law Commission deliberated on various proposed amendments to ‘The Mizo Marriage, Divorce & Inheritance of Property Act, 2014’ by the Law Commission Members as well as NGOs like the Central YMA and MHIP Gen. Hqrs., Aizawl. Issues touching upon inheritance, child custody, customary marriage laws, etc. were among the points of discussion. Besides these, the Members had a thorough discussion on Cr.P.C.Section 125, 127 & 167. It was also mentioned in the course of the meeting that ‘The Mizo Marriage, Divorce & Inheritance of Property Act, 2014’ did not apply within the Autonomous District Council area.
