Siaha; the 2nd February,2023: In consonance with other districts of Mizoram, a mega Mock Exercise on Earthquake disaster was held in Siaha town at 10:00 Am. The occurrence of Earthquake at 10:00Am was made known to the public by raucous blaring of Siren.

Today's mock excercise was executed under these SCENERIO:
Type of disaster: EARTHQUAKE
Origin time: 02/02/2023 at 10:00AM IST
Magnitute: 8.7 magnitude
Duration of the shake: 60Sec

Hazards triggered by the earthquake:
1)Landslide
2)Fire
3)Hazard from falling Objects inside and outside to the buildings
4)Building damages
5)Human Casualties
6)Road block due to landslides and collapsed buildings
7)Communication failure(Landline & Mobile Phone)
8)Damage to water pipes and electric poles.

Mock exercise on Earthquake Disaster was carried out at the following 5 locations wherein the aforementioned hazards had taken place.

1)District Hospital
2)PWD Office
3)Lorrain Market
4)Gov't Siaha H/S
5)Residential Area(Pu Rohlua's Building,Siaha vaihpi)

All the necessary actions needed to execute post earthquake occurrence was carried out under

INCIDENT ACTION PLAN

Under this IA plan, District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) was set up at DC's Mini Conference Room and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) members manned the DEOC under the leadership of Shri Lalsangliana, DDMA chairman and DC.

From the DEOC, all the necessary instructions were given to Staging Area and Relief camp after it received information from Incident commanders. DEOC also sent minute to minute reports to SEOC through Google-meet App.

To pull off this mock exercise smoothly and as closely as the real time incident, preparation was done meticulously in the form of Tabletop Exercise which was held on 31/01/2023 through video conferencing under the Chairmanship of Smt Renu Sharma, Chief Secreatry of Mizoram, and Stakeholders briefing session was also conducted by DDMA on 01/02/2023.

In today's Mock Exercise, apart from Gov't officials, VCs and NGOs (MTP&MCHP) belonging to the locality where the 5 selected locations are situated participated and earnestly executed their assigned duties.
