Dated Aizawl, the 8th January, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri Y. Patton, paid a visit to Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, at his residence this evening.

Shri Y. Patton extended warm congratulations on Pu Lalduhoma's recent landslide victory in the state Assembly Election, and expresses his best wishes for a successful government. Highlighting the shared ancestry of Nagas and Mizos, Shri Y. Patton emphasized that the Chief Minister of Mizoram is regarded as their own.

Drawing parallels, he noted that, like Mizoram, a significant Naga population resides within Myanmar from time immemorials. Given this shared cross-border demographic, Shri Y. Patton firmly stated that any resolution regarding Indo-Myanmar border fencing would be unacceptable for Nagas.

Pointing out the close relationship between the two states, he mentioned the significant presence of Mizos in key administrative positions in Nagaland. He invites Pu Lalduhoma to visit Nagaland at his convenience, Shri Y. Patton received a positive response with the Chief Minister expressing his intention to do so if an opportunity arises. The discussions between the leaders encompassed various issues, including collaboration for the development of northeastern states and matters related to recent Chief Minister visits to Delhi, among others.
