First round of the National Deworming Day 2020 was observed on Monday in Lunglei District at Holy Faith English School, Electric Veng, Lunglei with Additional Deputy Commissioner Pu R. Vanrengpuia as the Chief Guest.

Delivering an inaugural speech, Pu R. Vanrengpuia stressed on the importance of personal hygiene and cultivating healthy habit to have a healthy life. Lunglei Senior Medical Officer Dr Lalrinthangi chaired the function while Pu Mickey Lalenkawla, Samagra Siksha gave a keynote address on National Deworming Day. A hand washing demonstration was done, followed by administration of Tablet Albendazole to students by the Chief Guest and other officials.

 NDD is observed twice every year in February and August in which a deworming tablet, Albendazole is administered to children of 1 to 19 years old. In this first round of NDD 2020, the tablet will be administered at every school, colleges and anganwadi centres. Mopping up of those left out today will be done on 17th February.
