Association for Voluntary Blood Donation (AVBD Lunglei) organized a programme in honor of ‘National Voluntary Blood Donation Day’ on October 1, 2019 at Mizoram Polytechnic, Lunglei under the theme “At Least Donate Once in a Lifetime”. Pu Lawmawma Tochhawng, MLA & Vice Chairman, High Powered Committee, Lunglei graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Pu Lawmawma Tochhawng, MLA complimented the AVBD Lunglei for organizing the event, and thanked them for their various initiatives to encourage more people to donate blood to save lives. Lauding the voluntary spirit of Mizo people, he stated that it is indeed a matter of great pride for the State that the cause of blood donation has been strongly taken up by the Government, educational institutes, Churches and various NGOs. Assuring the  AVBD Lunglei  of continued support from the Government, he encouraged them to organize more donation camps and awareness campaigns in future.

According to reports by Pu H. Lalthangliana, Secretary, AVBD, from April to August 2019, 1225 units of blood were received by the  Civil hospital Lunglei Blood Bank-out of which 1162 (94.86%)  were voluntary. Christian Hospital Serkawn Blood Bank received 1002 units out of which 826 (82.44%) were voluntary.

1. Cherhlun Branch YMA - 52 unit
2. Serkawn Branch YMA - 51 unit
3. Peniel Hnahthial Branch YMA - 41 unit

Other Base:

2. Bunghmun Volley Club - 11 unit
