Aizawl, the 19th January 2023: NITI Aayog Team consisting of Dr. Priscilla C. Ngaihte, Regional Lead, North East States and Shri Siddharth Bagaria, Young Professional visited Mizoram to undertake review of the Aspirational District Programme (ADP) for Mamit district and Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) of the three Aspirational blocks, viz., Lungsen, Reiek and Ngopa. A meeting was conducted at Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Aizawl on 18th January on hybrid mode wherein Deputy Commissioners and Block Development Officers of the aspirational districts and blocks presented the status, achievements and hurdles faced in their districts/blocks.

The NITI Aayog Team commended the progress made by all the ABP blocks, taking special cognizance of the use of ABP Fellows for undertaking need assessment of the block, which they noted for replication in other states also. During the meeting, Dr. Priscilla also conducted an orientation for NEVolution: Focussed Attention to North East, a special mission under ABP. NEVolution will provide the framework for the preparation of Planned Intervention within the ABP blocks to be implemented through performance award money, partnership supports and other soft & hard interventions.

On 19th January, the NITI Aayog Team also visited Reiek RD Block where they interacted with the village community, the Village Council, major civil society organisations like the YMA, MHIP and MUP and department frontline workers to have a grounded understanding of the people’s perceptions, aspirations and hardships in order to prepare Planned Intervention under NEVolution. The Team will leave Mizoram on 20th January.
