Champhai, 12th August, 2021: To mark the completion of 75 years of Independence and honor the freedom struggle and its heroes, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Champhai started celebrating the 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' proceeding involving various activities, here at Champhai District.

As part of the celebration, NYKS Champhai is organizing a 'Cleanliness Fortnight' or 'Swachhata Pakhwara' from 1st August, 2021 to 15th August, 2021. National Youth Volunteers, Youth Clubs and Youth leaders are organizing various cleanliness activities including planting of trees, cleaning of streets and public places and spreading awareness about benefits of cleanliness.

NYKS Champhai is also planning to organise FIT INDIA Freedom Run on 14th August, 2021 both at district and village level strictly following all Covid Appropriate Behaviours. Mr. Dinesh Jangid, District Youth Offficer, NYKS Champhai requests the youth, youth leaders, community leaders and YMA leadership to encourage people to participate actively and make this movement a mark of national honour, pride and unity,  Freedom Run will be a step towards better, healthy & Fit India, he added.

Also to celebrate this auspicious occasion, NYKS Champhai in consulation with District Administration is prioritizing women's menstrual health and will be distributing organic reusable sanitary pads in rural parts of the district, particularly covering those villages population where awarenees about menstrual health is very low. NYKS has tied up with an NGO named SANITREE INDIA to impart training on menstrual health for its Volunteers. NYKS hoped that the program  will mark a step ahead towards better menstrual health of women in the District.
