Aizawl, the 22nd October 2020 : Information & Public Relations Department in association with Mizoram Art Development Society (MADS) last week organised an Online Painting Exhibition for artists of the state with the theme ‘Covid-19 and life’. A prize distribution of the competition was held today at Aizawl Art Gallery where Secretary, Information & Public Relations Department, Pu Sangdingliana. I & PR Director Pi Lallianpuii and Deputy Director Pi K. Vanlalsangi presided.

Speaking at the function Pu Sangdingliana mentioned that the painting competition would a good initiative to educate the public on the need for everyone to be careful and abide by all Covid-19 mitigation steps. He added that this would be used in the recently launched Jan Andolan Campaign in the state. Pi Lallianpuii who also spoke on the occasion highlighted that the works of the artists have captured the effects of the pandemic on our lives very poignantly and it sends a very powerful message, she added.

More than 71 works of art which included various media were submitted by the artists of the state. Liansangmuana of Lunglei Electric was adjudged the 1st Prize winner; Lalramchuana Sailo of Aizawl Zarkawt was adjudged the 2nd prize winner and Lalhmingmawii of Aizawl College Veng was adjudged the 3rd prize winner. 7 Consolation prizes were also awarded to the participating artists.

The Department also recently organised an Online Art Workshop to help artists of the state to connect themselves and share their creative ideas as a part of building resilience amongst creative talents during the pandemic scourge.
