Aizawl the 26th May, 2023 : Zofa Inkhawmpui Lian organized by the Zo Reunification Organisation (ZORO) was held today at Vanapa Hall, Aizawl. Information and Public Relations Minister Pu Lalruatkima grace the event as Chief Guest.

Pu Lalruatkima commended ZORO for their tireless efforts in uniting the Zo ethnic community and promoting brotherhood and unity. He acknowledged the challenges posed by political boundaries that have divided the community and called upon the people to actively support the efforts of ZORO in promoting solidarity among all Zo ethnic individuals. Drawing attention to the recent incident of violence in Manipur, the Minister expressed that the Zo ethnic people who sought refuge in Mizoram were warmly welcomed by the government, NGOs, and the local population. Furthermore, he announced that arrangements have been made in Aizawl to accommodate candidates unable to appear for their UPSC preliminary exams in Imphal.

Pu Lalruatkima emphasized the core values of the Mizo people, which include honesty, bravery, and selfless sacrifice for the welfare of others. He praised the efforts of NGOs such as YMA, MZP, MUP, MHIP, MSU, and others in promoting and preserving the cultural and traditional heritage of the Zo community. These organizations are always ready to assist those in need, fostering a sense of brotherhood among Zo people living in different parts of the world, he said. Pu Lalruatkima urged attendees of Zofate Inkhawmpui Lian and the Mizo people in general to rededicate themselves to the pursuit of peace, brotherhood, unity, growth, and development for all Zo people worldwide.

ZORO successfully organized its maiden World Zo Convention in Champhai, Mizoram on May 19th, 1988. During this significant gathering, delegates from various regions unanimously adopted the term 'Zo' as an inclusive and umbrella term for the Chin-Kuki-Mizo people residing in different parts of the world. The primary objective of this convention was to pursue political unification for all Zo ethnic individuals in a peaceful manner. Leaders of ZORO have actively participated in multiple United Nations Organization (UNO) conventions, where they presented written representations and delivered speeches. Their engagement with the UNO aimed to advocate for the rights and interests of the Zo ethnic people, furthering their cause on an international platform.

Today's Zofa Inkhawmpui Lian was chaired by ZORO Vice President Pu Rohmingthanga Kawlni. The event witnessed the participation of representatives from MUP, MHIP, MSU, MZP, and CYMA, who delivered brief speeches. ZORO President Pu R. Sangkawia also addressed the gathering, sharing his thoughts on the occasion. Additionally, representatives from various Zo ethnic communities conveyed greetings and well wishes during the convention.
