Aizawl, the 26th August 2022 : As part of effort to promote Aadhaar usage by states,Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Regional Office (RO) Guwahati has organized a State Level workshop on ‘Recent Initiatives for Simplifying Aadhaar Usage’ in Aizawl, Mizoram on 26August,2022.

The workshop was Chaired by Sh. Navin Kumar Choudhary, IAS, Principal Secretary,GAD, Govt. of Mizoram.While addressing the participants/officials, “he has highlighted that Aadhaar is instrumental in delivery of social welfare schemes &also helps in stamping out pilferages in the existing system. He has emphasized that during birth registration, Aadhaar enrolment should also be done so that Aadhaar can be linked with birth certificates.

Col. Abhishek Koushik, Director, UIDAI, RO Guwahati delivered welcome address & a brief presentation in journey of Aadhaar& its usages in the state of Mizoram.

Senior officers from the Govt. of Mizoram had attended the workshop& given detailed presentation on progress of Aadhaar enrolment & initiatives taken to implement DBT.Best practices adopted by the state were also explained.

Speaking on the occasion Sh. Devajit Khound, DDG UIDAI, RO Guwahatiexplained how Aadhaar has become the core of India’s digital public infrastructure. Aadhaar with its inherent features of Uniqueness, Authentication, Financial Address and e-KYC has helped the government authorities to directly reach residents for delivery of various subsidies, benefits and services. He has emphasized thatAadhaar is verifiable anytime, anywhere both online as well as off-line in a cost-effective way. 

In his speech, he has emphasized on use of Aadhaarin every social welfare schemes  to bring transparency/visibility in the existing system & urged the State Govt. that benefits shall be provided to the beneficiaries through Aadhaar Enabled Payment System for last mile delivery.

All the sessions of the workshop deliberated on Aadhaar features, Key Developments on Usage of Aadhaar, Data Privacy &Information Security. 

a)    Official from NPCI has emphasized that the State Govt. of Mizoram shall utilize Aadhaar numbers in all the State Govt. sponsored schemes & benefits shall be provided to the beneficiaries through Aadhaar Enabled Payment System for last mile delivery.

b)    Officials from UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati had discussed and highlighted the importance of DBT and the issuance of Section- 7Gazetted notifications for the schemes and benefits disbursed from the State Consolidated Fund. Discussions pertaining to Section 4(4)(b)(ii) wasalso held for issuance of notificationunder Good Governance.


The workshop ended with a positive note and vote of thanks.
