A review meeting of Organising Committee on mass bamboo dance was held today in the office chamber of Art & Culture Minister P.C. Zoram Sangliana.

Presiding over the meeting the Minister thanked all the participants, various agencies and government officials involved in the grand success of Mizoram setting a new Guinness World Record in mass bamboo dance on 12th March, 2010. He stated that the success lies upon the personal interest rendered by the Chief Minister who holds the Finance portfolio. Following the worldwide recognition, Mizoram has received an invitation to perform Cheraw dance in the opening of the XIX Commonwealth Games at New Delhi for which the Minister informed the Committee that elaborate arrangement is being persued vigorously.

10 Sub.Committees viz. Traffic Management & Security, Bamboo Collection, Medical, Costume, Transportation & Reception, Documentation & Publicity, Identification of Venue, Water&Sanitation, Technical Committee and Light&Sound gave their respective reports. Expenditure statement amounting to Rs. 50 lakhs was presented.
