Dated Aizawl: the 17 December 2024 : As part of the Fit India Movement, the 'Fit India Cycling Tuesday Campaign' was launched by the Hon'ble Union Sports Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya this morning (17-Dec-2024) at New Delhi. The same was organized across the country in every State and Union territories as well.
In Mizoram, the Campaign was launched at Aizawl and Thenzawl with the initiative of Sports Authority of India (SAI) in collaboration with Sports & Youth Services (SYS) Govt. of Mizoram and Mizoram Cycling Association.
As part of the launching, a short function was held under the chairmanship of Pi Elizabeth Lalnunmawii Colney, Centre Incharge, STC, Aizawl, who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the main object and target of the launched of the Fit India Cycling Tuesday Campaign i.e "Fitter India and to mitigate Pollution and contributing to a Green Fit India".
All together about 70 persons (Cyclist and Officials) gathered in front of VANAPA HALL in the morning 6:30 A.M to 7:00 A.M where The pledge taking by all the gathering (Cyclists/Officials) for taking/doing at least 30 minutes of physical activities in a day was held, headed by Pu. Lianminthang, Regional Director SAI.
Following this, The Campaign' for Mizoram episode was flag off by Pu. Lalramsanga Sailo IRS, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services (SYS) Govt. of Mizoram in front of Vanapa Hall. About 30 Cyclists from Mizoram Cycling Association peddled from Vanapa Hall to Zarkawt, Chanmari and back to Vanapa Hall, the route covers about 5 Kms.
Besides Dr. Franklin Lalrinngheta President of Mizoram Cycling Association along with the officials of the association, Officials of Sports & Youth Services (SYS) department and SAI Coaches and officials were also present during the launch of the campaign.
