Aizawl, 16th March, 2021 : A meeting held yesterday at Aijal Club chaired by Rural Development Minister Pu Lalruatkima reviewed the proposed Schedule of Rates (SoR) for various works under MGNREGS.

The Minister remarked that due to the pandemic many livelihoods in rural areas were affected and in this regard MGNREGS helped people in rural areas to a great extent to tide over difficult times due to the pandemic. He also announced that District Rural Development Agencies will be shortly set up in the new Districts of Saitual, Hnahthial and Khawzawl.

The SoR has been enunciated in line with SoR of Mizoram PWD and will be effective from 1st April 2021. Mizoram is one of the first states to have a separate SoR specifically for MGNREGS. 

The Schedule of Rates refers to the amount of work a job card holder has to do to earn a full day’s wage.

The meeting was attended by Rural Development Department officials including DRDA Project Directors and Block Development Officers.
