Today a meeting was  held at DC conference hall by the DC/DM of Mamit District along with security personnel, NGO and village community leaders. The recent publication of the final list of NRC in Assam which reportedly left out more than 19 lakhs people have perhaps seemed to have created apprehensions of mass infiltration in the neighbouring states especially for districts like Mamit district which shares boundary with Assam. Mamit DC Pu Lalrozama, IAS requested earnestly the stakeholders their support and cooperation in this fight against possible illegal infiltration to the aspirational district. The meeting decided to gear up security checkgates in the district so that no illegal migrants enter the district. In this regard SP mamit briefed the meeting with steps taken to counter the influx of such illegal migrants into the district by installing CCTV at the checkgate of Kanhmun which is the main entry point to the district.
