Aizawl the 21st October, 2026:  On 20 October 2026, a special team of Saitual District Police conducted random checking at Kualmawi, Keifang, as part of its ongoing enforcement activities.

At around 5:40 AM, the team intercepted a white Maruti Suzuki Brezza bearing Registration No. AS 11 T 8278, driven by Thangminlun Baite (24) of Kangpokpi District, Manipur, while it was travelling from Manipur towards Aizawl. The vehicle was stopped on strong suspicion of transporting illegal contraband.

A detailed search of the vehicle was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, during which the team recovered and seized 100 soap cases containing a substance suspected to be heroin, weighing a total of 1.457 kg and valued at approximately ₹2.914 crore.

The driver was arrested on the spot. Further investigation is underway to ascertain forward and backward linkages.
