Serchhip  Police observed ‘Police Commemoration Day’ alongwith the rest of the country at Serchhip SP Office ground yesterday (21.10.2019) under the patronage of Superintendent of Police (SP) Pu R. Sathyasundaram, IPS, and paid homage to martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty between September 2018 and August 2019.

During the said period, 292 police personnel laid down their lives in the line of duty in the whole country. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) suffered the most and lost 67 of their personnel. Jammu & Kashmir was the highest among the states, where 24 numbers of death occurred. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the line of duty in Mizoram.

Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on 21st October since 1960 to commemorate the sacrifices of ten policemen while defending the borders with China in 1959 at Hot Spring in Ladakh.

In yesterday's programme, the 3rd Bn. MAP displayed Absush/Shock Parade to express commemoration and honour to their departed comrades. After the programme, a commemorative gift and bouquet was given to the family of Pu Biakrongura, 2nd IR.Bn who lost his life in Chhatisgarh in 2007.
