Aizawl, Mizoram – February 14, 2024 : The inaugural function of the two day 7th Conference of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) Northeast Chapter NEZCON 2024-2025 was successfully held on February 14 2024, at the Assembly House Annexe Conference Hall along with a scientific session at Aijal Club in Aizawl. The conference was followed by a General Body Meeting of the members of the IAPSM Northeast Chapter.
The two-day event brought together public health professionals, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from across the Northeast region and other parts of the country to discuss pressing issues related to public health and to build stronger partnerships for better health outcomes in the region.
The theme of this year’s conference, “Building Public Health Partnerships in the Northeast,” emphasized the importance of collaboration and collective action to address the unique health challenges faced by communities in the region.
The Chief Guest for the inaugural event was Dr Eric Zomawia Mission Director, NHM, Mizoram who highlighted the significance of strengthening health systems through strategic partnerships and interdisciplinary approaches.
Various public health experts and renowned speakers from across the country and abroad presented keynotes and sessions on topics ranging from promotion of health research and building partnership to mental health, non-communicable diseases, and the impact of climate change on health and our ecosystem, and shared their expertise on the various aspects of preventive medicine and public health, focusing on sustainable solutions for the Northeast.
In addition to the scientific presentations, interactive panel discussions , poster presentations and workshops, the conference will provide a platform for networking and knowledge exchange, allowing building partnership amongst public health professionals for future endeavours in the field of public health in the region.
The conference will also be a platform for recognizing the efforts of individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to public health. Awards were presented to outstanding professionals in the field, acknowledging their dedication and impact on public health improvement.
