Aizawl the 8th September, 2023 – As a part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming General Elections to Mizoram Legislative Assembly, 2023, an important interactive meeting was held at Aijal Club today with Shri Dharmendra Sharma Sr. Deputy Election Commissioner & Director General, India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM). The meeting was attended by the 18 State Level Master Trainers (SLMT) and 33 District Level Master Trainers (DLMT) selected for the MLA Elections, 2023.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Dharmendra Sharma highlighted the crucial role of Master Trainers for successful conduct of elections, and encouraged all present to take their role seriously, and be thorough in the various instructions, manuals and handbooks issued by the Election Commission of India. He also encouraged them to familiarize themselves with recent trends and news in Indian elections, especially regarding election petitions.

The 18 State Level Master Trainers had undergone 3-phase training programme at India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) and had cleared all required Evaluation Tests. These SLMTs had in turn trained the 33 DLMTs who will then conduct various trainings at the District Level.

Pu James Lalnunmawia, Jt. Chief Electoral Officer chaired today’s meeting. Shri Madhup Vyas CEO, Mizoram delivered a welcome speech, while Shri Amol Srivastava, OSD to CEO proposed a vote of thanks.
