Aizawl, 13th March 2025: Today at 3:00 PM, a special campaign titled 'Public Education on Environment Protection & Conservation Laws, Climate Change, and Sustainable Practices' was concluded at the Gauhati High Court, Aizawl Bench Conference Hall. This campaign was organized by the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA). The event was graced by Justice Sudhanshu Dhullia and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, both Judges of the Supreme Court of India, as special guests.

The program was presided over by Pi F. Laltlansangi, a member of the Mizoram Judicial Service, with an address of gratitude delivered by the Member Secretary of MSLSA. A review of various initiatives undertaken during the campaign was presented by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary, followed by the playing of the NALSA theme song.

Welcoming all the attendees of the Valedictory Session, Justice Michael Zothankhuma, Judge of the Gauhati High Court delivered a welcome address by thanking the officials and the participants for their valuable time, and extended an invitation to the participants to make optimal use of the programme.

In his valedictory speech, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Supreme Court of India discussed the importance of protecting the environment. He stated that it has been essential since time immemorial and that development should not come at the cost of environment protection. He expresses his gratitude for being a part of the program. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan also mentioned Article 51 (A) of the Constitution about the duties of the citizen of India.

The address was followed by Distribution of Prize for the Drawing Competition organised in schools (Middle School Level and High School Level) in Mizoram under the Campaign by Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Supreme Court of India. 

The Prize winners of Middle School Level Drawing Competition are as mentioned below.

a) First Prize B.Zonunmawii, Springdale Academy, Champhai

b) Second Prize - Vanlalhlimpuii, Little Flower, Serchhip

c) Third Prize - Lalthlamuanpuii, Adventist English School, Lunglei

The Prize winners of High School Level Drawing Competition are as mentioned below: 

a) First Prize Zodinpuii, JM High School, Serchhip

b) Second Prize - Amy H.Zothanpuii, Govt. High School, Lunglei

c) Third Prize - Grace Lalmuanpuii, Pinehill High School, Champhai

The prize consists of cash award and citations

Also speaking on the occasion, Justice Sudhanshu Dhullia, Judge, Supreme Court of India mentioned that Mizoram is fortunate to have rich flora and fauna and urged the people to preserve them. He stressed the importance of saving a tree by referring to the Chipko movement. Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia congratulated the prize winners of the drawing and essay competition. He stressed the importance of environment protection and forest conservation.

This was followed by Distribution of Prize for the Essay Competition organised in Colleges in Mizoram under the Campaign and Distribution of Prize for Best Performing DLSA in the concluded Campaign Justice Sudhanshu Dhullia, Judge, Supreme Court of India. 

The Prize winners of College Level Essay Competition are as mentioned below.

b) Second Prize- Ramnunmawii, Govt Lawngtlai College and Sarah Mamsawmzuali, Pachhunga University College

c) Third Prize Evelyn Lalduhzuali, Govt. Serchhip College; HC Vanlallawmzuali, Govt. Lawngtlai College and Esther Lalmawi puii, Pachhunga University College

Justice N. Unni Krishnan Nair, Judge of the Gauhati High Court, concluded the Valedictory Session by proposing a vote of thanks.
