• Dear friends
I am very happy to be with you today at this Alumni Meet organized by the MZU Alumni Association.
I feel privileged to be in the company of great minds that have shaped the legacy of this esteemed institution.
Alumni meets are not mere gatherings of former students. These are important occasions that connect the illustrious past with the promising future.
They offer a platform to reconnect with the university, while acknowledging the integral role played by the alumni in bolstering its reputation. Such events pave the way for collaboration, mentorship, and ensure that the legacy of Mizoram University becomes ever greater with each passing year.
Established through an Act of Parliament and commencing its journey from 2001, Mizoram University is now a beacon of knowledge in the region and beyond.
This institution has shown its commitment to excellence from the days of its initial association with the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU). Over the past two decades, the University has showcased remarkable dedication to academia, infrastructure, and sustainability.
Mizoram University has now been consistently placed among the Top 100 universities in the country according to the NIRF Rankings. In addition, the University has secured prominent positions in reputed international rankings.
It has received numerous accolades, including ‘A’ Grade Accreditation by NAAC. MZU has also received 'A' grade from the Mizoram State Pollution Control Board, which reflects its commitment to a sustainable future. With 39 Academic Departments under 10 Schools of Study, MZU has consistently evolved to offer an extensive range of programs. Furthermore, its commitment to inclusivity and community engagement is evident from its various social service activities.
The accomplishments of the distinguished alumni present here today are a testament to the caliber of this institution.
Your contributions have played pivotal roles in addressing societal challenges and impacting communities. Your achievements and success are positive inspirations for the current students.
Your engagement and continued involvement in various capacities will ensure that the legacy of Mizoram University remains firmly intact.
The alumni members that have gathered here are important individuals in the society.
I take this opportunity to seek your cooperation on an issue which I feel is very important.
As the Governor of Mizoram, I have travelled to all the districts of the State, and I have interacted with people across all sections.
I was surprised to find that the people of Mizoram, by and large, are not aware of the various Central Government Schemes that are available.
Thus, I feel that the educated section of the society has a massive role to play.
As we all know, our State is financially challenged and resource mobilization is difficult.
Therefore, we must create awareness that there are so many beneficial Central Government Schemes that are easily available for the public in different sectors.
There are social security schemes such as PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, and healthcare schemes such as Ayushman Bharat PM-Jan Arogya Yojana.
Loans of various categories are available under PM MUDRA and PM SVANidhi.
Recently, Hon’ble Prime Minister launched the PM Viswakarma Scheme for artisans and craftspeople covering 18 trades.
Likewise, there are so many schemes which the general public can avail under the Central Government.
Therefore, it is my earnest appeal to the educated citizens to inform the common people about these beneficial schemes.
As I conclude, I express my deepest gratitude to each one of you. The strength and reputation of Mizoram University is enhanced by your success.
It is my sincere wish that Mizoram University will continue to be a centre of knowledge, innovation, and excellence.
Thank you. Jai Hind.
