I am very happy to be with you today at the Inaugural function of the 3-day Diagnostic and Fitment Camp for Hearing Disabilities, jointly organised by the Ephatha Society and The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute.
I have been informed that the Ephatha Society has been performing a noble service for the hearing impaired in Mizoram.
At the outset, I convey my appreciation for your honourable service, and I encourage you to keep up the good work.
I am delighted that various individuals and organisations in the society are working for the rights and welfare of the vulnerable groups.
As responsible citizens, it is our duty to ensure that our fellow human beings can live with dignity and respect.
Ever since Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji assumed office in 2014, he has taken several initiatives for the welfare of Divyangs.
It was Hon’ble Prime Minister who gave the title ‘Divyang’, which means ‘Divine Body’.
Under ‘The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016,’ the categories of disabilities have been increased.
The reservation quota for Divyangs has also been increased.
As I understand, today’s event is also made possible by the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute, under the Assistance to Disabled persons for purchasing / fitting of aids / appliances (ADIP) scheme of the Union Government.
In order to show my support, I have also sanctioned an amount of ₹.50,000 as financial assistance for this programme.
I take this opportunity to invite all stakeholders to come forward and contribute for the betterment of our beloved Divyangs.
I also encourage those with disabilities to remain strong with positive outlook.
You must remember that you will achieve only as much as what you believe.
In conclusion, I thank the organisers for today’s programme, and I convey my best wishes for the success of this Diagnostic & fitment Camp.
