Distinguished gathering of officials from the Assam Rifles, Civil and Police Administration

It is my pleasure to be with you all today in this Investiture Ceremony for the Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals for the Assam Rifles.

I am extremely proud of the recipients of these prestigious medals.

The Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in the country.

Due to their popularity particularly in the North East, they have been called as ‘Friends of the Hill People’.

I applaud the tremendous work you have done for the safety and welfare of the local people.

Particularly in Mizoram, the Assam Rifles is playing a key role in curbing drug menace.

The sheer volume of seizures of contraband items and drugs worth several crores is testimony to the commendable job being done by 23 Sector Assam Rifles.

The Sector has also seized multiple arms consignments and apprehended some insurgents in recent times.

The troops of Assam Rifles in Mizoram have also contributed socially by undertaking numerous Civic Action Projects for the local people.

My compliments to the DIG and all ranks of 23 Sector Assam Rifles for the excellent job.

I also encourage you to maintain strict vigil, especially in view of the upcoming General Elections to the State Legislative Assembly.

For the recipients of the awards and their proud families and friends, today marks a momentous occasion in your lives.

I congratulate you for your dedication and your hard work.

I also convey my appreciation to your families for their unflinching support as you diligently discharge their duties.

The Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals are presented to the most deserving and meritorious personnel of the organization.

I am happy to hand over these medals at this solemn ceremony at the Raj Bhavan.

It is clear from the citations read today that you are here based on your meritorious actions.

This is a recognition of the efforts taken by you all in your professional assignments to uphold the dignity and sovereignty of our great nation.

I thank you for your contributions and congratulate you on receiving this recognition.

I urge you to continue your noble service, and to use this achievement as an inspiration for even greater service to the Nation.

I thank all the dignitaries and invitees for attending today’s program.
