Pu Lalchamliana, Hon’ble Home Minister
Dr. K. Beichhua, Hon’ble Excise & Narcotics Minister
Additional Chief Secretary
Commissioner & Secretary, Home Department
Officials, Awardees and Invitees
I am very happy that today, we have been able to conduct the presentation of the prestigious Governor’s Awards. As we all know, these Awards could not be handed over during this year’s Republic Day Celebrations, as our State was then witnessing the peak of the COVID-19 wave.
However, with the COVID situation having improved slightly, and with many of the restrictions having been lifted, it is fortunate that we are now able to present the Awards at the Raj Bhavan Durbar Hall.
The Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals are presented to the most deserving and meritorious employees of the State Government. The Awardees are selected after careful consideration by the competent authorities.
It is a matter of great privilege and pride to win these Awards after undergoing a meticulous selection process. This year too, the recipients of the Awards are sincere and innovative employees, whose actions and service have justified their achievements today.
Mahatma Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Service in itself is a virtue and must be appreciated. Public Service is even more significant as it has far-reaching implications.
Governance pervades all spheres of public life, and hence government employees wield enormous influence, which must be utilized responsibly. It is against this context that I congratulate today’s awardees, who have used their position and power for the benefit of others and the society at large.
Today’s presentation should also serve as an encouragement to the other employees of the State Government. It is my desire that even more number of eligible employees will be awarded in future with the Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals.
It was again Gandhiji who said, “Service which is rendered without joy helps neither the servant nor the served.” Let us remind ourselves that as public servants, we have the resources and the capabilities to better the lives of others, which will ultimately give us true happiness. Such distinguished and meritorious service will continue to be recognised with the Governor’s Awards.
Once again, I congratulate all the recipients of the Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals. I urge you to continue your noble service, and to use this achievement as an inspiration for even greater service. I also commend the Home Department for successfully organizing today’s function.
Thank you.
Jai Hind.
