Dr. Andrew H. Vanlaldika MCS, Deputy Commissioner, Lawngtlai District

  • Shri Deotosh Kumar Surendra Singh IPS, Superintendent of Police, Lawngtlai District
  • Shri Rasik Mohan Chakma, Chief Executive Member, Chakma Autonomous District Council
  • Officials

I am very happy to be will you all on my maiden visit to Chawngte, Lawngtlai District and the Chakma Autonomous District Council.

I have been told that the Autonomous District Council areas have remained relatively backwards, as compared to the other parts of the State. It is the sacred duty and responsibility of all of us, the State Government officials and the District Council officials present today, to work tirelessly for the development of this region and the upliftment of the people. The various difficulties that we face must not be seen as constraints; rather, we should accept them as challenges and continuously look for opportunities.

The officials who have gathered here have a higher responsibility to the people, as the various tools and resources for development are in our hands. We must remind ourselves each day that our purpose is to serve the people, especially the poor, the unprivileged and the downtrodden. As important officials, we must make sure that the different schemes meant for the public must reach the common man.

Here, I would like to stress upon the various schemes being implemented by the Central Government, such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Surakhsa Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, etc. Government officials should make the public aware of these various schemes and work for their successful implementation. The insurance schemes especially are the backbone of social security. It is my fervent appeal to all the officials to disseminate these Central Government schemes to the masses as much as possible. However, our responsibility does not end with the mere public awareness of these schemes. We should go the extra mile and do our best to assist the poorer section of the society in availing these different important schemes.

The COVID-19 pandemic, as we all know, has caused immense hardship all over the world. In these difficult times, our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji has turned adversity into opportunity, and has given a clarion call for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, or ‘Self-Reliant India’. We should pursue the realization of this vision with great zeal and vigour, by educating and leading the common people at the grassroot level. Let us redouble our efforts in the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’.

As Governor, I understand that the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India has bestowed certain duties and responsibilities upon me in relation to the Autonomous District Council areas. I call upon all the stakeholders to work together steadfastly for the progress of these areas. I shall try to perform my Constitutional obligations to the best of my abilities. It is my desire that the District Administration and the District Council should also work together in close association for the benefit of our people.

Once again, I encourage all of us to rededicate ourselves for the service of our country and the people. Let us collectively utilize our resources and utmost abilities for the achievement of a Self-Reliant and a New India.

         Jai Hind.
