Aizawl, 7th April, 2026 : In exercise of the power conferred under sub-rule (1) of Rule 3 & Rule 56 of The Mara Autonomous District Council, (Election to Village Councils) Rules, 2014 as amended, the State Election Commission, Mizoram has directed that in the case of an elector not yet issued with Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or in the case of loss of EPIC, the list of documents which can be used as identity instead of EPIC, needs to be authorized by the Commission in the interest of the electors; –
The electors, in the ensuing By-Election to 6(six) Village Councils under MADC area shall produce, for the purpose of establishing their identity, any one of the following documents before the Presiding Officer or the Polling Officer in the said By-Election:-
LIST OF DOCUMENTS
(i) Elector’s Photo Identity Card(EPIC), issued by ECI,
(ii) Passport/AadharCard
(iii) Driving Licence,
(iv) Income Tax Identity (PAN) Card,
(v) Service Identity Card issued to its employees by State/Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Local Bodies or Public Limited Companies,
(vi) Passbooks issued by Public Sector Banks/Post Office and Kisan Passbooks (accounts opened upto February, 2026),
(vii) Property Documents such as Pattas, Registered Deeds, etc.with photograph,
(viii) SC/ST/OBC Certificate and Residential Certificate issued by competent authority (issued upto February, 2026),
(ix) Pension Documents such as ex-servicemen’s Pension Book/Pension Payment Order, ex-servicemen’s Widow / Dependent Certificate, Old Age Pension Order, Widow Pension Order (issued upto February, 2026),
(x) Freedom Fighter Identity Card,
(xi) Arms Licenses (issued upto February, 2026),
(xii) Certificate of Physically Handicapped with photograph issued by the competent authority (issued upto February, 2026),
(xiii) Job Card issued under MNREGA with photograph (issued upto February, 2026),
(xiv) Health Insurance Scheme Smart Card (issued upto February,2026),
(xv) Students Identity Card issued by the concerned Head of Institution.
