Aizawl, 28th March, 2024 : The State Media Cell for Lok Sabha General Election, 2024 yesterday held a meeting at DIPR Conference Hall, Lianchhiari Run, youth leaders of various churches, NGO leaders, Mizo Zirlai Pawl leaders and representatives of various ethnic students' organizations were present.

The meeting was chaired by Dr H. Lianzela, Addl. Chief Electoral Officer, Mizoram who highlighted that Mizoram has a higher voter turnout in MLA elections than in Lok Sabha MP elections, he also said that Mizoram generally has done well in MLA elections but not in the Lok Sabha MP elections wherein the voter turnout has been below the national average. He requested the gathering to find solutions to improve the vote of the people, especially the youth and how all the stakeholders would be able to work together to achieve these goals.

Resource persons Pu Henry C. Lalrawnkima, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and Pu Zonun Sanga, Addl SP (Crime) explained the general situation of Mizoram elections and the importance of compliance with laws and regulations. Addl CEO conducted discussions on strategies to increase voter turnouts in the Lok Sabha election. Important suggestions and ideas were discussed which will be pursued by the State Media Cell.

Mizoram Upa Pawl, Central YMA, Central KTP, Mizoram Youth Christian Association, Salvation Army Youth, North-East PYD, Mizoram PYD, Adventist Youth Ministries (SDA), Diocese Catholic Youth Association, Mizo Zirlai Pawl, Siamsinpawlpi (Paite). Representatives of Hmar Students Association, Mizoram Bawm Students Association, Lai Students Association, Mara Students Organisation, Pang Students Association, Central Young Chakma Association and Bru Students Association were present at the meeting. The meeting ended with vote of thanks from Pu Vanlalringa, Senior Informatics Officer, ICT Department.
