Sudan Ambassador to India, Mr Khidir Haroun Ahmed, send condelence letter on May 6 to the Home Minister of Mizoram, Pu R. Lalziriana regarding the demise of Johny F Lalhmangaihzuala, an engineering student at Lovely Professional University.

The Ambassodor, in his letter conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members and the citizens of Mizoram, calling the incident unfortunate and sad. He claimed that Sudan has always respected the Indian people and this kind of unfortunate incidence has never occurred during more than half a century of their association with India.

"This incident, indeed sad and unfortunate, has happened during a friendly match and that alone stands testimony to the fact that it was neither deliberate nor planned by anyone, yet it does not mean that it is not painful and unacceptable, but this shall inspire us to work together to deal with its after-effects and help the family of the late student to bear the loss and overcome this difficult and unavoidable situation".

"We assure you of our whole hearted readiness to cooperate with the competent authorities to address the issue including the provision for adequate compensation to the family of the late student".

The Ambassador also extended his keenness to work with the Government of Mizoram to overcome the situation in a spirit of forgiveness, reconciliation and human brotherhood.
