1. COVID-19 STATE CONTROL ROOM SET UP AT ADMINISTRATIVE TRAINING INSTITUTE

The Central Government, keeping in view the spread of COVID-19 virus in India and the declaration of COVID-19 as pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), by way of a special one time dispensation had on 14th March, 2020 decided to treat COVID-19 as a 'Notified Disaster' for the purpose of providing assistance under SDRF. Accordingly, the Disaster Management & Rehabilitation Department, Govt of Mizoram has set up a State Control Room on Covid-19 at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), MINECO.

can be reached 24x7 by anyone who requires assistance or has a query related to Covid-19. It may be noted that the Control room is manned by a team of 4 dedicated Officers at all hours.

2. DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER SENDS RELIEF TO HIS ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCY

MLA of Tuichang Assembly Constituency and The Deputy Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Tawnluia yesterday sent 100 quintals of essential commodities consisting of rice, potatoes, onions, garlic, cooking oil, sugar and milk to meet the requirements of citizens of the constituency during the nationwide lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic. The Deputy Chief Minister also handed over a sum of Rs. 30,000/- to Dr.Lalngaihawmi Chhangte Medical Officer, Khawzawl CHC to be utilized for Frontline workers at the Khawzawl CHC.

3. STATUS OF STATE SURVEILLANCE ON COVID-19

WHO has declared the recent Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic, affecting 199 countries & territories as International Public Health Emergency of International Concern. In this context, Government of Mizoram has strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease. Since February 2020, all passengers arriving at Lengpui Airport and Land Border Check Points are being screened. In wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the general public is advised to adhere to health advisories issued by the State Government. People at large should follow the cough etiquette and do frequent hand-washing with soap and water. Those who have arrived from the COVID-19 affected countries/state should remain under home isolation for 14 days from the date of arrival in the state, even if they do not have any symptoms. They should contact the Help Line no.102 (Toll Free)/0389-2323336/2318336 in case of any queries and for those who develop fever with cough or difficulty of breathing during this period.

4. INSURANCE SCHEME FOR HEALTH WORKERS FIGHTING COVID-19 IN GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS AND HEALTH CARE CENTRES

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on March 26, 2020 announced a Rs 50 lakh insurance cover per person for frontline health workers involved in managing the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Centre approved the scheme with following conditions:


 1. It will provide an insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakh for ninety (90) days to a total of around 22.12 lakh public healthcare providers, including community health workers, who may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and who may be at risk of being impacted by this. It will also include accidental loss of life on account of contracting COVID-19.


 2. On account of the unprecedented situation, private hospital staff/ retired/volunteer/ local urban bodies/contract/daily wage/ ad-hoc/outsourced staff requisitioned by States/ Central hospitals/autonomous hospitals of Central/States/UTs, AIIMS & INIs/ hospitals of Central Ministries can also be drafted for COVID-19 related responsibilities. These cases will also be covered subject to numbers indicated by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

 

3. The insurance provided under this scheme would be over and above any other insurance cover being availed of by the beneficiary.
